How to Apply for Your Graduate Certificate – Superintendent Online

Southeastern Oklahoma State University's online programs have specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

Before applying, check to see if the program is offered to residents in your state.

To meet the admission requirements for the Graduate Certificate – Superintendent only, applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited university
  • Principal certification
  • Minimum of two years of work experience as a campus administrator

International Application and Admissions Requirements: Please note, unfortunately, students with an F-1 visa are ineligible for online programs.

  1. Complete the application. There is a non-refundable $65 application fee.
  2. Academic Records:
    • Original final post-secondary transcript(s) from each college or university attended within the United States.
    • Post-secondary records from outside the U.S. must be course-by-course analyzed by a NACES (www.NACES.org) educational credential evaluation service such as IERF or WES or ECE.
  3. English Proficiency: Internet-based TOEFL score of 79 or an IELTS Academic score of 6.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.
    • For TOEFL, have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).
    • For IELTS, let us know your TRF number.
    • You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if you meet one of the following:
      • English is your first language from a country whose official language is English
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from an English speaking country

EDAD 5333: School Finance

Duration: 7 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

Sources of school finance, control of expenditures, and general principles of financial administration.

EDAD 5393: The School Superintendent

Duration: 7 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

This course will be an overview of practical day to day responsibilities of a school superintendent.

EDAD 5413: Management of School Auxiliary Services

Duration: 7 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

Overview of auxiliary services for public school districts including: transportation, food service management, maintenance, custodial services, purchasing, and other related support services to the management of a school district.

EDAD 5553: Special Topics in Education Law

Duration: 7 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

An extension of public school law dealing with state and federal regulations, statutes, and cases most affecting the management of school boards and central office personnel.

EDAD 5953: Internship for School Superintendent

Duration: 7 weeks   |   Credit Hours: 3

This course provides the opportunities to candidates to demonstrate and apply knowledge abilities, and dispositions through hands-on experience for the prospective superintendent under the direct supervision of a practicing school superintendent or assistant superintendent.
