  • Which classes do you teach online?

Core MBA Marketing Course; Hospitality Marketing

  • Why did you start teaching?

I spent over 20 years owning my own business and was successful. I sold that business and was looking for something new to try when I met the woman has been my wife for the last 26 years. She was a middle school teacher and I marveled at what a difference she made in people's lives. I wanted to have that same impact. Since I had a lot of practical experience in business, I felt that was the best place I could contribute. I have never looked back -- it's been great.

  • What's the best advice that you have ever received?

Have the courage to follow your passion. Don't worry about the money or what other people think. Play to your strengths, enjoy life, and make a positive difference with everyone, every day.

  • What's the best advice that you could give your students?

From Rory Vaden's book, Take the Stairs, this quote: "Success is never earned, it is only rented and the rent is due every day."

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the profession in which you teach?

The ability to work well with teams, think critically, and handle ambiguity.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

Keeping up with all the information available. It is much more difficult to say on top of things when there is so much to know. The solution is to determine what is important and ignore the rest.

  • Tell us something that your students might find interesting, something they may not know about you.

I am a big believer in personal development and exercise. I constantly read and re-read classics such as How to Win Friends and Influence People and new ones like Take the Stairs by Rory Vaden. I also run, swim, and do strength training. If I'm not at work or looking at a house, I am probably at the gym.

  • How do you see online learning affecting the future of education?

Online learning is the future of education and corporate training.
