Southeastern Oklahoma State University's online graduate certificate programs have specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • No GMAT

To meet the admission requirements for SOSU's online graduate certificate program, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA or minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 semester hours of courses, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA or minimum 2.75 GPA in last 60 semester hours of courses, AND at least three years of continuous professional work experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA or minimum 2.75 GPA in last 60 semester hours of courses, AND a portfolio consisting of a letter of application which outlines the applicant's career goals and objectives and how a graduate certificate will enhance them; a current resume, three professional letters of recommendation, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university and at least 9 hours in a graduate program from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be in good standing at previous university.
  • No GMAT is required for the Southeastern Oklahoma State University online graduate certificate.

International Application and Admissions Requirements: Please note, unfortunately, students with an F-1 visa are ineligible for online programs.

  1. Complete the application. There is a non-refundable $30 application fee.
  2. Academic Records:
    • Original final post-secondary transcript(s) from each college or university attended within the United States.
    • Post-secondary records from outside the U.S. must be course-by-course analyzed by a NACES (www.NACES.org) educational credential evaluation service such as IERF or WES or ECE.
  3. English Proficiency: Internet-based TOEFL score of 79 or an IELTS Academic score of 6.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.
    • For TOEFL, have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).
    • For IELTS, let us know your TRF number.
    • You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if you meet one of the following:
      • English is your first language from a country whose official language is English
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from an English speaking country

This course focuses on the processes and activities used by the project manager and team to identify, define, combine (integration requirements), unify, and coordinate project work, such as developing the project management plans. Further, special attention is given to the planning, executing, and controlling of project scope. Finally, students will learn the processes, policies, and procedures that must be implemented to meet the quality requirements.

This course introduces students to the policies, procedures and documentation required to plan, develop, manage, execute and control the project schedule. In addition, learners will leverage the schedule baseline when creating the project budget. An important takeaway is the relationship between schedule management and cost management. In addition, learners are exposed to the procurement management knowledge area, which focuses on the processes required to acquire products, services and results from external vendors.

This course emphasizes the criticality of effective and efficient communications from the project manager to both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, stakeholder identification and engagement are examined relative to the communications strategy. The learning underscores the value of effectively managing resources that are assigned to projects, with an emphasis on how they are planned, estimated, acquired, developed, managed, and controlled. Finally, the risk management process is evaluated to include risk planning, identification, analysis, and response planning.

This course is designed to teach students to identify and manage products that are suited for the Agile approach. These projects are typically ambiguous in scope, such as initiatives launched in the IT field. Students will learn the Agile Manifesto, and the different agile methodologies, including Scrum, Extreme Programming, Crystal, and Lean Development. Special attention is given to the Scrum ceremonies, such as sprint planning meeting, daily stand up, spring review meeting, sprint retrospective, and grooming the prioritized product backlog. Students will learn the similarities and differences between Waterfall and Scrum projects.
