Here's how to get started on your sports communication degree

Southeastern Oklahoma State University's online M.S. in Sports Administration – Strategic Communication program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • No GRE or GMAT required

To meet the admission requirements for the M.S. in Sports Administration online program, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.75 overall GPA or minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of courses, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.0 overall GPA AND a current resume demonstrating two years of experience in the field of study—must be reviewed and approved by program coordinator, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university and at least 6 hours in a graduate program from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be in good standing at previous university
  • No GRE is required for Southeastern Oklahoma State University online M.S. in Sports Administration programs
  • There is a non-refundable $30 application fee for both domestic and international students

The M.S. in Sports Administration degree online at SE allows a maximum of nine credit hours that can be transferred from another program with approval from the program coordinator.

International Application and Admissions Requirements: Please note, unfortunately, students with an F-1 visa are ineligible for online programs.

  1. Complete the application.
  2. Academic Records:
    • Original final post-secondary transcript(s) from each college or university attended within the United States.
    • Post-secondary records from outside the U.S. must be course-by-course analyzed by a NACES (www.NACES.org) educational credential evaluation service such as IERF or WES or ECE.
  3. English Proficiency: Internet-based TOEFL score of 79 or an IELTS Academic score of 6.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.
    • For TOEFL, have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).
    • For IELTS, let us know your TRF number.
    • You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if you meet one of the following:
      • English is your first language from a country whose official language is English
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from an English speaking country

Methods of teaching sport skills in a variety of sports. The purpose is to promote athletes' growth, development, and learning in all areas of sports. A study of the trends and issues related to the development and maintenance of athletic abilities in a variety of sports.

Students will learn the process for planning, executing, and evaluating a strategic communication campaign consistent with the organization's mission and strategic initiatives. This course emphasizes strategic communication deployed for both for-profit and non-profit organizations, to internal and external audiences, using proactive and reactive message strategies.

Through a message-centered approach, this course introduces students to the planning, creation, deployment and critique of risk and crisis communication. Students will explore competing theoretical perspectives and rhetorical strategies used when conveying risk and crisis communication to the public.

Organizations communicate strategically. These messages develop, influence, and control internal and external structures, networks, and teams. In this course, you will study these messages and examine how organizational leaders communicate through challenges, engage in sense-making, and develop strategies for communicating change and development.

This course explores communication strategies to successfully engage in negotiations and conflict management when problem-solving or allocating scarce resources. Of particular interest is a focus on strategies women in leadership can employ to develop confidence, reduce situational ambiguity, and avoid the pitfalls of negative stereotypes when negotiating or managing conflict.
