Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s online M.S. in Health Science program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • No GMAT or GRE

To meet the admission requirements for the M.S. in Health Science online program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA
  • No GRE is required for the Southeastern Oklahoma State University online Master of Science in Health Science
  • There is a non-refundable $30 application fee for both domestic and international students.
  • International Application and Admission Requirements: Please note, unfortunately, students with an F-1 visa are ineligible for online programs.

    1. Complete the application.

    2. Academic Records:

    o Original final post-secondary transcript(s) from each college or university attended within the United States.

    o Post-secondary records from outside the U.S. must be course-by-course analyzed by a NACES (www.NACES.org) educational credential evaluation service such as IERF or WES or ECE.

    3. English Proficiency: Internet-based TOEFL score of 79 or an IELTS Academic score of 6.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.

    o For TOEFL, have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).

    o For IELTS, let us know your TRF number.

    o You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if you meet one of the following:

      • English is your first language from a country whose official language is English
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from an English speaking country

    This course offers students an opportunity to integrate their course work, knowledge, and experiences into a project that results in a written report and poster presentation regarding an issue within the field of health or healthcare. The project is a culminating experience in the health science program. Students will present their projects to their capstone class.

    This course examines health disparities and their consequences on healthcare. Students will assess social determinates of health such as socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, and gender. Emphasis will be placed on how these determinates affect health outcomes.

    This course provides students with an understanding of research, its processes, and how monies may be received for research in the health sciences through grant writing. The language of grants, proposal development, funding sources, and budget justification will also be explored.

    This course, utilizing both communication and media theory, provides instruction on the goals and strategies of health care promotion and the social structures within the context of health maintenance and health promotion. Students will learn to develop preventative and maintenance healthcare messages, select appropriate media channels, and communicate with difficult-to-reach audiences.

    This course emphasizes the criticality of effective and efficient communications from the project manager to both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, stakeholder identification and engagement are examined relative to the communications strategy. The learning underscores the value of effectively managing resources that are assigned to projects, with an emphasis on how they are planned, estimated, acquired, developed, managed, and controlled. Finally, the risk management process is evaluated to include risk planning, identification, analysis, and response planning.

    This course explores an overview of health policy and law, discusses essential issues in health policy, and law and reviews basic skills in health policy analysis.     This course focuses on the practical leadership and management skills required for working in complex healthcare environments. An overview of leadership theories, styles, competence, applications, and responsibilities and other topics are covered.

Students will examine evidence-based and interprofessional literature to analyze ethical issues in practice through the exploration of foundational theories and how these apply to change, regulation, technology and fiscal responsibility in healthcare.

    This course provides foundational knowledge for health professionals to make decisions regarding quality improvement and patient safety. Learners will examine models, tools, methods, and data relating to quality and patient safety issues.
