Know the steps to being admitted to our online MBA in HR program

Southeastern Oklahoma State University's online MBA program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • No GMAT

To meet the admission requirements for SOSU's online MBA degree program, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA or minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 semester hours of courses, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA or minimum 2.75 GPA in last 60 semester hours of courses, AND at least three years of continuous professional work experience, AND approval of the program coordinator, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA or minimum 2.75 GPA in last 60 semester hours of courses, AND a portfolio consisting of a letter of application which outlines the applicant's career goals and objectives and how an MBA degree will enhance them; a current resume, three professional letters of recommendation, AND approval of the program coordinator, or
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university and at least 9 hours in a graduate program from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be in good standing at previous university.
  • No GMAT is required for the Southeastern Oklahoma State University online MBA.
  • There is a non-refundable $30 application fee for both domestic and international students.

Non-Business Undergraduate course requirements:

Our MBA is designed for students with diverse undergraduate backgrounds and is suitable for business and non-business graduates. For students entering the MBA program whose undergraduate degree is not in business, finance or a related field, pre-requisite coursework may be required before enrolling in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Data Analysis courses. Students must satisfy pre-requisite coursework or present proof of coursework equivalency for the following:

  • ACCT 2103 Fund of Financial Accounting
  • ACCT 2203 Fund of Managerial Accounting
  • ECON 2213 Principles of Microeconomics
  • BUS 2633 Business Statistics

Our MBA is designed for students with diverse undergraduate backgrounds and is suitable for business and non-business graduates. If you do not have a bachelor's in business, pre-requisites can be satisfied online, with four 1-week leveling courses. Our Enrollment Specialists will be able to provide you with more information on these 1-week courses.

International Application and Admissions Requirements: Please note, unfortunately, students with an F-1 visa are ineligible for online programs.

  1. Complete the application.
  2. Academic Records:
    • Original final post-secondary transcript(s) from each college or university attended within the United States.
    • Post-secondary records from outside the U.S. must be course-by-course analyzed by a NACES (www.NACES.org) educational credential evaluation service such as IERF or WES or ECE.
  3. English Proficiency: Internet-based TOEFL score of 79 or an IELTS Academic score of 6.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.
    • For TOEFL, have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).
    • For IELTS, let us know your TRF number.
    • You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if you meet one of the following:
      • English is your first language from a country whose official language is English
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university
      • You have a bachelor’s degree from an English speaking country

Employment law is approached from a practical and legal standpoint. Participants will take a role in a mock HRM department composing real company policies based on legal principles. We will view reward systems from the perspectives of managers (who make reward decisions), employees (who receive the rewards and are the "customers" of the reward system), and human resource practitioners ( who assist in the design and maintenance of reward systems). Reward decisions may be highly sensitive and therefore surrounded in secrecy because all employees are very concerned about the amount, form and basis of their pay. We will cover the basic underpinnings to reward systems at the start of the course which includes employee motivation, salary surveys, pay structures, pay banding, merit pay, skill-based pay, team-based pay, gainsharing, profit sharing, legally required benefits, health insurance, and retirement plans including 401(k) plans.
