The Master of Science in Sports Administration – General online degree program from Southeastern Oklahoma State University is designed to prepare you for management or administrative opportunities in professional sports, intercollegiate or interscholastic athletics, sports facilities and sports marketing and management agencies.
In addition to core requirement courses in the sports administration and sports science disciplines, the M.S. in Sports Administration – General emphasis provides graduate students support coursework which focuses on nutritional strategies, the development of strength training programs to maximize athletic performance, and advanced coaching techniques.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University's online M.S. in Sports Administration program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

To meet the admission requirements for the M.S. in Sports Administration online program, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.75 overall GPA or minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of courses, or
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 2.0 overall GPA AND a current resume demonstrating two years of experience in the field of study—must be reviewed and approved by program coordinator, or
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university and at least 6 hours in a graduate program from a regionally accredited university with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be in good standing at previous university
- NO GRE is required for Southeastern Oklahoma State University online M.S. in Sports Administration programs
The M.S. in Sports Administration degree online at SOSU allows a maximum of nine credit hours that can be transferred from another program with approval from the program coordinator.
International Application and Admissions Requirements: Please note, unfortunately, students with an F-1 visa are ineligible for online programs.
- Complete the application. There is a non-refundable $65 application fee.
- Academic Records:
- Original final post-secondary transcript(s) from each college or university attended within the United States.
- Post-secondary records from outside the U.S. must be course-by-course analyzed by a NACES (www.NACES.org) educational credential evaluation service such as IERF or WES or ECE.
- English Proficiency: Internet-based TOEFL score of 79 or an IELTS Academic score of 6.5; taken within 2 years of enrollment.
- For TOEFL, have your score report sent to Southeastern (institution code: 6657).
- For IELTS, let us know your TRF number.
- You do not need TOEFL or IELTS scores if you meet one of the following:
- English is your first language from a country whose official language is English
- You have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university
- You have a bachelor’s degree from an English speaking country

Review and analysis of sociological phenomena related to sports.
KIN 5053: Applied Research & Statistics in Sports
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
A study of research methodology and literature related to sports. The course is designed to develop correct application of research methods and statistical process decision-making relative to continuous improvement in coaching and sports management.
KIN 5103: Administration of Athletics
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
Problems, policies and procedures involved in the administration of athletics.
KIN 5113: Sport Management, Finances, and Fund Raising
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course is designed to study the management, financing, marketing and sponsorships of sports programs.
KIN 5123: Facility Management & Event Planning
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
A study in the planning and developing of sports facilities as well as event management. Emphasis: 6 hours.
KIN 5303: Contemporary Issues

A study of current issues involving philosophical and administrative issues in physical education and sports.
KIN 5603: Legal Aspects

Legal aspects of sport administration, coaching, and teaching physical education. Topics include the analysis of legal issues such as liability, negligence, risk management, tort law, and application of sport law.
KIN 5863: Skills, Strategies, Techniques for Coaching
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
Methods of teaching sport skills in a variety of sports. The purpose is to promote athletes' growth, development and learning in all areas of sports. A study of the trends and issues related to the development and maintenance of athletic abilities in a variety of sports.
Students must choose two of the following courses. Other elective courses may be selected at the discretion of the department's Graduate Committee.
KIN 5023: Foundations of Exercise Science
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
A cross-disciplinary course that provides students with a broad foundation of the various sub-disciplines of sport and exercise science including the anatomical, biomechanical, physiological, nutritional and psychological bases of human movement.
KIN 5753: Sport Nutrition
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
The study of nutrition as it relates to human energy production, utilization during exercise, fitness, and sports performance. Special emphasis is given to energy needs for specific types of physical activity, current theories related to weight gain/loss, the relationships between diet and training for optimum performance, and sports performance-enhancing substances.
KIN 5843: Advanced Strength Development
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
The theoretical and practical applications of strength training and conditioning. Special emphasis is given to the development of sport- and event-specific strength and conditioning programs, sports-specific performance demands, and individual performance optimization. Programs shall be based upon the performance requirements associated with musculoskeletal strength and flexibility, body composition, cardiovascular endurance, and nutritional recommendations.
