Skip the GMAT With SOSU Online

Southeastern Oklahoma State University offers 13 online MBA concentration options and none of them require GMAT or GRE score.

Why? The faculty and admissions officers at SOSU believe that your professional accomplishments, on-the-job education and academic record are more than sufficient to determine your eligibility.

About the GMAT and GRE

Across the United States and around the world, 250,000 GMAT exams are given each year to test applicants fairly and objectively. Thousands of business schools have used this exam for more than six decades, and today it is used in 110 countries. Applicants can take the GRE at more than 1,000 test centers in more than 160 countries, and it is accepted at thousands of graduate and business schools.

The tests are considerably different. The GMAT is primarily used by business schools, whereas the GRE is used by a wider range of post-graduate programs. Both tests provide a comprehensive view into applicants’ verbal and quantitative reasoning as well as their analytical writing skills.

Scores on the GMAT or GRE exam are statistically reliable indicators of one’s ability to master graduate-level course content and to achieve success in a career after graduation. There are exceptions, of course. Some students perform well on the exam and not as well in the academic setting. Conversely, other students underperform on the exams and outperform their exam scores in the MBA program and their careers.

Why SOSU Does Not Require the GMAT or GRE

GMAT and GRE test scores are only indicators, while your professional accomplishments offer demonstrable proof that you are ready to excel in our MBA online programs. Your undergraduate GPA is also a concrete record of your achievements, making it a more reliable indicator of how you will perform in our program. Because your GPA is an aggregate average, compiled over time, it is also more statistically predictive of how you will perform over a longer duration, rather than in a compressed time frame.

In not requiring GMAT or GRE scores for admission, we appeal to working professionals whose experience benefits their fellow students in our programs. As a student, this enables you to learn from accomplished peers in a collaborative work environment, while allowing you to network and gain lifelong contacts that can help to advance your career.

Because many of our students are working professionals with personal and family obligations, eliminating the GMAT requirement saves applicants considerable time and expense. Preparing for these exams can take weeks, if not months. Test preparation can be costly too, commonly running into the thousands for courses, books, trial exams and software. Saving time and money enables you to get started on your MBA sooner, rather than later.
